Hay Daze

The days all seem to run together & after awhile you really have to think...

What is today ?

Finally today we are putting in our last load of hay for now! Approx. 1500 bales

If we don't get a rain or two in the next month there will not be a second

cutting - So we had to make hay while the sun was shining! Our weather has

been incredibly beautiful (as you can tell by my brother Dennis' blog) - But we

desperately need rain - .

We have had a quite a few visitors to the farm lately but their timing is WAY OFF -

As it seems they are in a hurry or we have just got done with a load of hay ;-)

The pigs have settled in quite nicely -

My neice Brooke has named them - -

You cannot tell them apart so this will work well -

LESS THAN IMPRESSED

Poor Bruce is NOT impressed at all with the guys who brought the gravel - we were told they were so good with the truck that we would have very minimal work to do - as it is Bruce will have quite a few 8n hours in getting it the way its suppose to be - - Its road gravel so that means it will harden up like cement and needs to be in place before it rains toinght??!!

So this is Bruces idea of swimming this evening ;-))

Ahh well it must be done -

In the meantime pork chops are grilling

Missing Guineas

Last night after we got home with the piglets

I could not find the guinea so I went and got Bruces head lamp - -

Found them all roosted up on top of the cattle shute -

Always something on the farm -

Bruce said when he went out this morning they were all

waiting at the barn door for breakfast -

And there were FOUR!

Last night we went on a pig mission

We picked up four - two females and two males

They are so funny - very happy and content in thier new home!

We got a huge change of plans today as the excavator showed back up

they will be here in an hour or so w/ gravel for the driveway and top soil -

Always something!

Plus we picked up strawberries this morning so I could make freezer jam -

Almost Ready!!

In about 10 more days these will be ready for pie ;-)

We continue to put up hay - we put up another 400 bales on Saturday

and Tom is on his way back with the third load, today as I write ;-))

We are suppose to pick up our 4 piglets tonight - -

We are getting great responses from those whom have bought our pork & beef ;-)

We still have some for sale if anyone is interested!

Bruce is still buried in the shop & thats a good thing!!

I keep busy with the landscaping etc. & its really starting to take shape

the gravel for the drive way and the topsoil should arrive this week!

We test drove a car the other night - as we need something more economical than the truck -

Jeremy has a full time job at "The Eat Spot" in Northport he loves it -

as he really gets to show his CHEF talent ;-)))

UGH!!

Yesterday when I wasn't in here doing Sparling paperwork - I was outside landscaping -
got a fair amount done - then last night we got torrential rains & this happened;

Thank goodness its not in an area that I had done a lot of work on yet -
Now that it has rained that means I will be working with the 8N today
raking - - Hopefully I can get most of that done this week so they can
come in with the stone for the walk ways and the gravel for the drive way -
We needed the rain desperately - I think this is the first time ever they predicted
the rain right - they said it would start at midnight & it did - right at 12pm!!

Heather majored in Art and this is what she plans to do for a living!

Not only was the cake beautiful it tasted incredible!!

good thing too as all the little towns helped keep us awake - -

It was a beautiful day and we ended it with

Bruces Fathers Day Dinner at the Cove - in Leland(Fishtown)

The trenches are filled back in but he buried all the top soil -

Now we have LOTS of clay and rocks to deal with -

We are hoping for rain to settle the trenches and the dust so we

can work on raking & back blading before we order a

gravel train of top soil -

to the orchard, to the field acrossed the seasonal road & to the back pasture by the goats - -

Its a "BIG MESS" right now but hopefully we can get the yard back together and grass

re-established by October!!

We will be VERY HAPPY next winter when we don't have to worry about hauling

5 gallon buckets to the cows,pigs, goats & chickens
