From our farm to you...

Happy New Year!
A Friend's Greeting
Edgar Guest

"I'd like to be the sort of friend
that you have been to me;
I'd like to be the help that you've been
always glad to be;
I'd like to mean as much to you
each minute of the day
As you have meant, old friend of mine,
to me along the way.
I'd like to do the big things
and the splendid things for you,
To brush the gray out of your skies
and leave them only blue;
I'd like to say the kindly things
that I so oft have heard,
And feel that I could rouse your soul
the way that mine you've stirred.
I'd like to give back the joy
that you have given me,
Yet that were wishing you a need
I hope will never be;
I'd like to make you feel
as rich as I,
who travel onUndaunted in the darkest hours
with you to lean upon.
I'm wishing in this New Year
that I could but repay
A portion of the gladness
that you've strewn along the way;
And could I have one wish this year,
this only would it be:
I'd like to be the sort of friend
that you have been to me."

Shades of Blue

Those of you familiar with the area know that the locals refer to
Lake Michigan as "Big Blue"
for the past while I have been trying to capture her in all shades....

Our Christmas Day

Hello from the snowy North Country!
We spent our Christmas down at my parents on the Lake -
My Aunt Leah had a potluck for all of her family down there &
we were invited - along with my brother Dennis & his Katie -
and my Unlce Wayne & Aunt Marion -
Uncle Wayne kept us in stiches for most of the afternoon!!
( he had one liners for everything
& people wonder where Jeremy and I get it from -
we know for sure that we come from a long history for
SAs (SMART ALECS ) =-)))
SHAME ON YOU WHAT WERE YOU THINKING
The ice & wind were perfect for Dennis to kite/skate -
I did not have my camera down there, I used my dads,
but he has not gotten the pictures to me yet -
Dennis was kite boarding but with skates on - instead of the board
actually looked like fun & kinda tempting!!
I am SURE that if Jamie and Krystal had been here
that Jamie would have had to try it!
Bruce has a big job he is working on in the shop -
so that is where he has been this week -
The house all cleaned & ready for company -
My daily juants thru the woods and hills with the dogs
plus the mounds of paper work keep me busy -

and it Snows...

Today while snowshoeing I found shivering milk weed... tried hard to see
big blue but the snow & clouds obscured my view
Ahhh but scenes like these make long winter days - almost tolerable

Acrossed the Tundra

Acrossed this little landscape....

"Grow old with me, the best is yet to be"
"The view from the top is worth the climb"
"Adrift"
" Tis not the tree that blocks the path, tis not the ash nor pine

but if you fail or fall my friend it twas some hidden vine

that tripped in up and thew you down and knocked you unawares

the big things you can get aroud but watch the path for snares"

"Back of the clouds..."

Went hiking in the snow!

The wind died down today and it snowed on and off all day so I decided to go hiking - I went w/out snowshoes... big mistake - its deeper than I thought... of course I had to take random pictures along the way - my hiking partners 3 four-legged - dogs(goofballs)- the cows love the snow, the pigs & goats don't seem to mind either -however Annie our potbellied pig and the chickens prefer it indoors - Good luck finding Annie...she sure knows how to keep warm!! YES those 4 big pigs fit in that little house - though we are not sure how!!

More wedding pictures

I love black n white photos -
Also as wedding pictures trickle in I will post our favorites on here

Snowy Cold Morning

Bruce has been out working in the shop since about 6:30 am...
Brrrrr another snowy cold morning here in the North Country
...batten down the hatches...
suppose to be (more) 50 mph winds again today & lots of lake effect snow!
I am working on books this morning but not feeling real perky just yet -
we are not sure but maybe had a touch of pnemonia on top of everything else -
I went for a long hike in the woods with the dogs yesterday after shoveling snow
there was alot more snow than we thought it was a heavy wet
Perfect for snowman snow!!

Birds eye view of the storm ~ taken just outside my office window this morning
