A Visit to Hillside Homestead our Dear Friend Susans 1910 Century Farm

Yesterday Mom and Deb went to Debs friend Susans 

Open house at her Century Farm House 

Bed and Breakfast -
This will take you back to 1910

For those of you that are wondering yes this the

same Susan that wanted to buy the farm in Northport

She has taken a nice farm house and turned it into

a beautiful place to live and share with others!

Susan dressed the part  - 

resting a spell from stirring the pot

We were lucky enough to meet Susans friend Sadie 

who came up here on VACATION to help her friend - 

We all need a few friends like these!!

You will find no TV here as Susan wants her guests

and friends to GET AWAY from technology 

embrace farm life... 

get to know each other and most of all 

breathe....

Bowls in all shapes and sizes waiting for the finished product

Apple butter - we were lucky enough to get a taste

The Porches both said... 

Come sit here with me!

The neighboring barn added to the ambiance

A screened in porch makes a welcome place 

for coffee in the morning or afternoon tea

The entrance to the cellar 

with antique junk?lining the walls - 

as it should

Susans dream of have a REAL WORKING 

antique stove was realized

Hoo sier Cupboard ;-)

The modern day kitchen was replaced with

a "back in the day" sink, stove etc!!!

The parlor was magnificent 

Deb was feeling right at home

(could move right in)

You can take the girl out of the farm

but you can't the the farm out of the girl!!!

Even the water closets had that back in the day feel

Both guest rooms were warm and cozy

with fresh air blowing the curtains

and the sound of chickens in the yard...

ahhhh life on the farm

nothing like it!!

Even the light fixtures are dressed the part

a wonderful place to stay... visit...

make memories

Its hard to describe the feeling of wonder and awe 

when you have a friend who has a dream...

They tell you in great detail their plans in this dream....

They search and search for the "PERFECT" place... setting...

As soon as Deb walked into 

Susans DREAM - Hillside Homestead

she knew her friend got one of lifes greatest gifts...

a Dream Realized!!

Words cannot portray how wonderful 

Carol was as a person, a neighbor a friend - 

She was always thinking of others... 

we would be out working in the dusk of evening

and she would know we had not taken time to have dinner

she would yell over - come over when you are done 

suppers waiting on you - 

She would stop over with chocolates for no reason at all 

or gelato... one of her favorites!

Often in the evening the phone would ring... 

lets go to dinner...

come over for dinner - 

(Carol could cook - gourmet style...

it was always delish and you
NEVER

went away hungry!!)

tomorrow lets go on the boat...

She lived life ... 

enjoyed this wonderful area we lived in 

and 

ALWAYS 

reached out to others!!

Though we had not gotten together

 with them much since we 

moved back to our place in Cedar -

 Our thoughts

OFTEN

went to our "Days on the Farm" and the 

WONDERFUL times we had with 

Tom, Carol and Friends!!

She will be missed

She is LOVED!!

So are you Tom!!

CAROL MULL KOLARIK, 57, 
of Northport,


died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at her home, 


surrounded by her family.

Visitation will take place this evening, 


Sept. 5, from 6 to 8p.m.,

with a Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.,


 at St. Wencelaus Catholic Church, 


Gills Pier.


A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.


 Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the church.
